Our services are available to anyone in need, regardless of age, gender, race, or religion. We focus our attention on Coconut Grove or the parish of St Hugh. Most Catholic parishes have a branch of St Vincent DePaul, so we encourage people to contact their local organization first
There are other groups that focus their activities on providing FOOD and CLOTHING assistance. Most of our calls are for assistance with RENT and UTILITIES
You can apply for St. Hugh's Society of St. Vincent de Paul services by visiting our website and filling out the online application form, or by calling the number on our website and leaving a message
The poverty rate in Miami is 20%, that is higher than the rate in Florida generally (13.1%) and USA as a whole which is 11% (Source: welfareinfo.org). People near or below the Poverty Level are barely making ends meet in a good month but one unfortunate incident (lost job or reduced hours, car or appliance breakdown or health issue) can put them in a dangerous situation. If they cannot keep up with the rent payment then ultimately they may lose their housing and employment may become even more difficult. Sometime SVDP with a little bit of help or advice can prevent a downward spiral for a family
